Cultural Integration

Become an Ambassador in your community to promote the integration of physicians and families within your community – explore the experiences and perspectives of other cultures, increase your understanding of the cultural challenges that internationally educated physicians and their families face when they arrive in Alberta, and learn ways to support settlement into their new communities.

Understanding the Dynamics of Personalities within Committees

Through exploring our personalities in a fun and interactive workshop, we can learn to understand and appreciate the different ways we can communicate and work together.

The 3C’s of Effective Committees

Communication, consensus building and conflict resolution are key components of building effective teams and committees. Through various activities, you will go away with the ability and tools to build and enhance working relationships within the committee.

“Seducing Dr Lewis”

The film “Seducing Dr Lewis” portrays a rural community and their tactics to recruit and retain a rural physician. A facilitated discussion then explores how your community approaches physician recruitment and retention strategies. The outcome is to identity some positive strategies that your community can use to support the attraction, recruitment and retention of physicians.

 “The Big Wait”

The film “The Big Wait” is a story about three International Medical Graduates (IMGs) who are waiting to get accredited in Canadian provinces and rural communities who are patiently waiting for them to arrive.   Through a facilitated discussion, participants will gain greater awareness and understanding of the challenges and frustrations encountered by both communities and physicians wanting to practice in Canada.
