The quality of life and the people who live there are one of the things that make living in a rural community appealing, and this is definitely the case for Dr. John Andreiuk, Chief of Staff for Medical Services in Fairview. Rural communities are unique for their people and lifestyle and it is these connections that brought Dr. Andreiuk back to his roots in the Peace Region.
Dr. Andreiuk was born in Spirit River and raised in the Rycroft area. He then entered the School of Medicine at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, completing his internship at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
His love for the Peace Region brought him back to the Peace River area in 1979, where he worked in a family practice until June of 1998. Dr. Andreiuk underwent further training in Obstetrics/Gynecology in Grande Prairie from July to December 1998 and further training in General Surgery from January to June of 1999.
In August of 1999 Dr. Andreiuk moved back to Fairview, and set up roots with his family and is now the Chief of Staff for Medical Services in Fairview and is involved in Family Practice and the surgery program.
Rural Health Week is a wonderful time to celebrate our Rural Physicians, like Dr. Andreiuk for their dedication and commitment to Rural Health practice, and speaks to the satisfaction and rewards afforded to our rural health professionals by the communities they serve.
